If they say what you eat affects you, the same must be true of what you feel. Remember the day you felt so much hurt that you felt like your heart was being torn into pieces. Common stress, anger, bitterness and hurt are some of those feelings that can be dangerous to your health; especially the heart.

So how do bad emotions impact negatively on the heart? A research done has found that stress is responsible for creating some hormones that can affect the smooth flow of blood from the heart because it can turn the blood into clots.

Another cause of high blood pressure is negative emotions like fear, anger, and panic because all these will make the blood to boil so to speak. The person then begins to feel some serious headache, or become faint and very tired.

You may be asking where help will come from amidst all these scary news. For a start, you must admit that adverse emotions are very common because most people have it. People must come to terms with this and reach the realization that it is something that can be dealt with. When we learn how to handle these feelings without allowing them to cause a lot of damage to health, the flow of blood will also be smoother and regular.

You are in a position to change your destiny by just saying no to stressful and pessimistic demeanor because the truth is that in life you can never be totally free of problems.

Make a great effort to avoid any negative circumstances. It means you will simply have to avoid people who have a negative attitude, and just learn to say “no.”

If you can smile more and have a positive and happy countenance, you will see it changing your life for the better. Your friends should be those who have no negative attitude and who take life in their stride.

Do not let the things of life worry you especially when you know there is nothing much you can do about them.

Besides emotions, the writer also frequently shares writing on reception chair and halogen lamps.

Clutter – A Stress Maker

Untidiness certainly can result in stress and anxiety. It is very irritating to never be able to find things when you require them, especially if you are in a rush. Losing your car keys or your glasses or your purse in your cluttered home is a sign of a lack of organization, but it is a pain in the neck too because it wastes so much time and usually precisely when you do not have time to waste.

The issue is basically one of organization. Because it is human nature to keep everything, our homes and offices soon become cluttered, so unless you have regular clear-outs or organize your junk well, you are going to lose things often.

Everything should have a place and everything should be in its place, that way you will know where to look for items. Tools should be stored in the garage, if possible on holders or nails on the wall. Gardening equipment should be in the garden shed, likewise put away so that you can see what is out and where everything is. Kitchen gear should be in the kitchen, office paperwork should be filed away in cabinets or and folders.

You have to take the time to put things away when you have used them and not leave them lying around until you have ‘a clean up later’. A clean up later is no good, you need to do it now. A stitch in time saves nine, as the old saying goes.

Papers should be stored as they would in a well-organized office. You may not have enough papers to merit having a filing cabinet, but you can get a filing box that looks like a small, plastic suitcase, but they open from the top.

One side is hinged, so that it can open out and the case contains a dozen or so compartments which can be labeled for ‘Insurance’, ‘Bank Statements’, ‘Credit Card Statements’, ‘Bills’ et cetera. They are very helpful and not dear. This must also have a place, say in the wardrobe.

If you think that even this is going too far, then three shoe boxes can be used: one for ‘permanent’ items such as wedding certificate, birth certificate, passport, insurance etc., one for the storage of items you have already dealt with like credit card and bank statements and utility bills and one for mail to be answered and bills to be paid.

Every year you can then go through the shoe boxes and bundle up items from the previous year or discard items that have become obsolete. Maybe a good time would be after filing your tax returns. In many countries, you have to hold on to tax records for seven years, so a fourth shoe box could hold the previous seven years worth of documents.

Clean out your attic or basement to make room for more junk. A good rule is, if you have not used something for five years, you do not require it, so sell it, give away or bin it.

Buy or make a key rack or just screw hooks into the back of your front door, that way you can hang your keys up when you come in and take them with you when you go out. Get a cord for your glasses and hang them around your neck. When you really do not require them, you can hang them up somewhere visible by the cord too.

Growing Up Begins With Stress Reduction

Although we are all aware of the fact that most people are under more stress than ever before, do people also realize how extremely bad for you too much stress can be?

At the thin edge of the wedge, stress can give you butterflies in your stomach or even diarrhea; it can produce headaches and even depression and it can lead to heart disease. Stress can seriously affect your mind and your body. Having said that, some stress is or can be a good thing.

Some people say that they work better under stress, actors and some executives, for example, but the real key is to be able to keep your stress levels within a sector that you are comfortable with.

The first step to dealing with stress is to find out what is causing you the most stress. The two main causes are financial and emotional: either you cannot pay your bills or you are having problems with your partner. Next comes your job, your kids and your house or an illness in the family.

What can you do to alleviate this stress? Well, to be truthful, it is horses for courses. We are not all the same and we do not all enjoy doing the same things, but I can name a couple of the most popular ways of reducing stress without having to go to a psychiatrist.

Reading a magazine in a comfortable and soothing location is quite de-stressing to many people. Sitting up in warm bed or sitting out in a scented garden reading a good book is very popular. So is writing. Some people find that it helps to write their sentiments down. This need not be in the form of a novel, but you could keep a diary, a journal or even a blog (an online, interactive journal).

These writings can be as basic or as complicated as you like: from random jottings about how you feel to full explanations. Only do not allow writing become a chore, which will only add to your stress.

You could also take a hot bath or go for a cool swim. You could have a sauna, a Jacuzzi or a massage or a facial or manicure or have your hair done. Pampering yourself is a good way of rewarding yourself, which will give you a sense of achievement, which will also ease stress. It makes all that stress seem worth it.

Often stress comes out of disorder, so try to put some order back into your life. The best place to start is to try to sort out your time, your life, around the things that you HAVE to do. You have to eat, rest, pay your bills and work (whether that is in the home or at a career).

Once you have plotted enough time to accomplish those duties, you can ‘fill in the gaps’ with other activities that you would like to do. This is the space for friends, hobbies, sports or even a second job, so that you can manage a truly special holiday, but keep the second job a fun job.

Keeping away from negative people will diminish your stress.. Some people are always moaning and those people are no good to you. Associate with people who are positive about life; people who appreciate that not everything will always go their own way and understand that they have to do something about it, not just complain over another beer between puffs on a cigarette.

Stress In Teens Can Cause Mental Health Issues

There is a good deal of stress in everyone’s lives these days and that includes children and teenagers. Children and teenagers come under stress from many sources but especially from warring parents and exams. However, children and teenagers are not as well prepared to cope with stress as adults should be.

The death of a parent and bullying at school are also causes of stress in children and teenagers. The death of a parent can necessitate counseling, bullying calls for adult help, usually from school staff. These four cases of stress in children and teenagers can lead to mental health problems like depression, ADHD and aggression.

Other causes of milder stress, which can however be the straw that broke the camel’s back, are as follows.

Moving to a new school, new town or joining a new club, like cub scouts is stressful to a great deal of kids. They will not have a lot, if any, friends there and will be unsure of the local customs, which can be nerve wracking. Being on edge like this is extremely stressful.

Learning how to cope with deadlines is not easy for a lot of young people. Nor is working alone to complete a project. Both of these abilities are taught through homework and most children have problems with homework. They hate it. This also causes stress to escalate, particularly if the child does not know how to do the homework and there is no one to lend a hand. Perhaps the child does not want to ask or perhaps the parents are incapable of helping.

Linked with school, if a parent is too pushy about achieving high grades, it can have stressful effects that are opposite to what was wanted. Parents have to recognize the fine line between encouraging and pushing their children to do well in school.

Low self esteem due to a brighter or more praised sibling is also the cause of stress. Parents who have a favourite and make this obvious run a serious risk of hurting their other children. Never ever choose a favourite (my ‘number one son’ or ‘my little princess’) and if you can not help yourself, then never let it show.

The news can distress some children, especially gory details like terrorist bombings and natural disasters. These are felt much more intensely of course if they happen locally. Similar to this is if a close family member suffers a terminal illness or even a serious accident like a car crash and the loss of a limb. They may undergo short term stress if they have an illness like mumps or measles or break an arm or a leg as well.

Children quickly pick up on problems between their parents and also on financial difficulties in the house. Try to keep these things to yourself and do not quarrel often in front of your children.

You can assist in the home by ensuring that your children have love and understanding and by not being too demanding. They are only children, but they often have to bear adult sized stress too. Try to help them not make too big an issue of problems.

Is Stress The Cause Of Your Acne Problems?

Everybody knows what stress is and we all think that the level of stress in our daily lives is incessantly on the rise. This is almost certainly true as well. However, stress can be a double-edged sword, stress causes stress, which means that being stressed is a vicious spiral. Stress ever generating more stress.

Our bodies can deal with a great deal of stress and so can our minds, but if stress levels are permitted to continue to rise unchecked, something will break. It might be your sense of mental equilibrium, in other words, you may get niggly or it may be your body. The biggest organ of our bodies is our skin and so it would not be strange if excess stress caused skin problems.

This is in spite of the fact that most peoples’ bodies last out quite well for sixty or seventy years. However, unchecked stress can be pernicious, as I said before. Stress creates more stress and in this way, if the way your body complains about the amount of stress it is under is by breaking out in spots, pimples or acnes, then that can lead to more stress, which can make the break-out even worse.

Additionally, the fact is that it is mostly teenagers who get acne, while they are going through stressful physical and emotional adjustments due to hormones. At this vulnerable age, when teenagers are beginning to discover their sexuality, the last thing they need is acne. This may even cause acne, which causes more stress, which does not help the acne fade away ad infinitum.

There are many possible reasons for acne, but there is also proof that Rosacea tends to get better and worse depending on our stress levels. Therefore, you may choose to try stress management as part of your acne or pimple control routine.

It is not probable that stress management alone will clear you of acne and other skin problems, but there is a very good case for including stress management in your attempt to keep your skin problems in check.

Along with stress management, you will have to try all the other recommended techniques, such as reducing fat in your diet, eating more fruit and vegetables, keeping your hair off your face and changing your pillow slip every night.

If you reckon that stress might be contributing to your acne, then you ought to follow a de-stressing regimen, which could include altering your diet (in the same way as mentioned above); exercising more; learning relaxation techniques, like deep breathing or yoga; taking a massage or sauna and pampering yourself a little, possibly by listening to soothing music.

Other means of reducing stress include reducing chaos in your life and setting targets for yourself. Stress often rises when we feel that we are no longer in control, so budget your finances and plan your routines. Stress can also increase if we feel that we are ‘not getting anywhere’, so learn to reward yourself for achieving targets that you set for yourself. These can be as simple, small or large as you like, but I find that small rewards for attaining short term targets works best for me.

Three Tips For Coping With Stress In A Home Business

Everyone comes under stress sometimes and for most of us that is when we are working. Having a boss is stressful enough, but at least the buck stops on his or her desk. When you work for yourself you have the stresses of normal workers, but you also have the additional stresses of complying with the law, the taxation system and the unions and the penalties can be very serious if you slip up. Ignorance of the law is no excuse as the judge will say as the gavel comes down and your cheque book comes out.

People deal with their stress in their own ways, but it is valuable to note a few of the popular ways to reduce stress levels in a home business situation. A simple but often very successful method to reduce stress is to have a relevant, but comic poster near-by for you to look at.

My Dad was a builder and on the wall opposite his desk was a poster of a monkey in overalls attempting to put building blocks on top on one another. Underneath it read: “You Do Not Have To Be Mad To Work here, But It Helps”.

It is an old one, but it was in the seventies and the whole point is that whenever he read it, it made him grin. Another poster he had was of a large tiger stroling through the edge of a jungle clearing. Again inspirational. Others might choose Kipling: “If you can walk with crowds and keep your virtue” et cetera or a passage from the Bible.

Motivational posters, pictures and mantras are very helpful, but sometimes you have to have more, because high levels of stress are considered an occupational hazard for people in business for themselves. One thing that I like to have near-by is a small fridge just for me (but I do work alone) and inside it are treats that I only lay a hand on when I need to.

There are expensive ice creams, gourmet chocolates and my favourite drinks, including chocomilk, fruit-flavoured spa water and home-made iced tea and iced coffee. If i am stumped, I take a moment out to eat or drink something and relax by looking out of the window. Five minutes later, I feel capable to have another go at the issue.

Some people find that playing one of the games that comes with most types of Windows for fifteen minutes helps a lot, but I prefer to stay productive so I just switch jobs for a while. Like most people in the West these days, I have a broadband connection that is ‘always on’, so email is coming in all the time too.

If I am having a problem with something and the answer just will not appear, I switch over to Outlook and read and reply to a couple of emails. I find that taking my mind off the immediate problem for a time helps me to refocus, and I have not lost any time because I have to go through the mail at some time anyway.

Teenage Stress Management

Unfortunately, everyone, of all age groups, is subject to stress. It has probably always been like that, but most people would accede that life has become more demanding for everyone since the Seventies, including for teenagers and even children. It is something that we should all keep in mind when dealing with irregular behaviour from teenagers and children.

Stress outs itself in different ways, but the same way in adults and teenagers and children, although most adults are better able to deal with stress. It is essential to be able to recognize the manifestations of stress in teenagers and children and how to deal with it.

Teenagers are in a particularly vulnerable group. They are mid-way between being dependent children and independent adults and the transition can be tricky, which means stressful.

In the West, about 20% of the population are teenagers. Do not forget that teenagers are going through immense psychological, physical, emotional and hormonal changes. Some deal with these fluctuations better than others, but hardly any teenager understands why they are thought of as stroppy.

There is so much going on in their lives that is new. In other words, they are under stress. That is not an excuse, we have all been through it and stress is not a carte blanche to behave like an idiot.

Sexual consciousness is a big stress factor that many teenagers do not how to deal with because they have never been through it before. This makes teenage girls very vulnerable to older boys who may target them for sexual favours.

Teenage girls are often proud of their budding breasts as a sign of their initiation into womanhood, but it does not mean that they know how to deal with the stares of older men and the advances of older boys.

The compensating factor here is that more girls will seek advice than boys. Boys tend not to seek advice, afraid that they will show themselves up. Dealing with family members can be advantageous, although they may be cause of the stress in the first place.

As in all cases of stress for all age groups, it is important to work out what the origin of the stress is, because this can determine how you will cope with it. Sometimes, parents expect too much of their kids, which will stress their teenagers out a lot. Therefore, the best way to help teenagers to get over their stress is to get them to talk about it.

Teenage stress management is a very important issue and many teenagers cannot cope with large amounts of stress on their own. As a parent, you could check that they are not eating too much junk food and encourage them to be active in sport.

You can also be as supportive as possible when your teenager seems to go off the rails for no apparent reason without asking too many probing questions, yet listening to what they tell you. Listening is the best way of helping someone display their feelings, prying puts people off.

Coping With Stress

We all know that stress is at a very high level for the vast majority of people and most of us have our own ways of dealing with this stress. However, for those who do not know how to cope with stress, it is probably first useful to appreciate what stress is and how it can reveal itself.

Stress is most easily defined as: “A mentally or emotionally disruptive or upsetting condition occurring in response to adverse external influences and capable of affecting physical health, usually characterized by increased heart rate, a rise in blood pressure, muscular tension, irritability, and depression” (TheFreeDictionary.com).

There are many reasons why stress can come about, but the most common types of stress come from finances, family, work, school, quarrels with friends and driving. The most stressful situations, however, are divorce, the death of a parent or spouse, moving house and swapping job or school.

Since the causes of stress are so varied, it is helpful to be able to determine where your stress is coming from, so that you know how to treat or prevent it. You need to get to know yourself to cope with your stress, because not all people respond in the same way to stress.

For instance, actors and top-flight business people often say that they need the buzz of stress to give their best performances. They have clearly learned how to harness stress to their own advantage whether unconsciously or by other methods. People who suffer from stress need to get to that phase.

When you have worked out what is causing your stress, you have a chance of counteracting it. In fact, you have many chances of dealing with it. If the source of the stress is your work, you might like to go for a drink with colleagues after work to talk things through once or twice a week, as long as you do not let it get out of hand and affect your family and your work.

Otherwise, you may go for a massage or a sauna or take regular weekend breaks either for pure relaxation or to follow a particular hobby such as hiking. In fact, a hobby of some kind is generally a good stress-reliever, even if the hobby itself is stressful. Just changing the routine seems to help a lot of people. Some people turn to shopping and beauty salons.

A weekend picnic, communing with nature, or rambling are other major de-stressers. The point is that you have to find something that is perfect for you. For instance, I work alone all day and detest shopping, so when I have done my bit, I seek out company to have a chat. My wife on the other hand spends all day with people, and likes to water the garden alone at the end of her working day.

Other major stress relievers are sports – either watching them or playing them. Playing is obviously healthier than watching, but given that stress is a major killer in the West, the reduction of stress is the main worry. Yoga and meditation are a fantastic compromise between being active and passive in your coping with stress.

Meditation And Stress Management

It is a sad fact many people react poorly to stress. In the worst cases of prolonged stress, this can lead to nervous breakdowns and depression. Stress is rarely cited as the cause of death but doctors recognize that stress can lead to other, physical and mental, disorders, which can then lead to death by suicide or heart disease. Stress is a killer, there is no doubt about that. Yet a certain amount of stress often leads to a job being done better.

The trick is to learn how to cope with the predicaments that we find stressful. If the cause of the stress is financial, learn how to handle your money better. If the reason is emotional, sort it out with your partner or get out of the relationship. If you are not happy in your job, get a new one or retrain. If you are content where you are, but you still need help to deal with your stress, then help is at hand.

There are many methods of working off stress. Some people like to go for a ’swift drink’ on the way home and that is okay as long as it is kept under control. Others like to go training or jogging. Others like to take it easy in a hot bath, a Jacuzzi or a sauna. Some enjoy a massage and others take up yoga and or meditation.

Stress is all in the mind. Even sport or training only ‘helps take your mind off’ your difficulties. It stands to reason then that if you want to overcome stress, you have to change the way your mind copes with it. Counseling will help some people, indeed they may need it, but most people can help themselves by getting a good book on meditation techniques.

Meditation is not easy to do properly unless you are a natural and there are some people like that, but for most of us it is a skill that we have to learn. If you want to learn and you stick with it, you will attain such a level of aptitude as will permit you to deal with stress and the problems that caused your stress. It will allow you to see the problems more clearly and maybe you will realize that they are not really problems at all – only challenges and tests, puzzles to be solved in a game.

Meditation is more than just thinking, but I cannot go into how to teach meditation in this short piece of writing. The Internet has loads of good quality Information on meditation, but I personally do not find reading a computer screen calming, which is why I advise getting a book, so that you can read it somewhere peaceful and practice what it explains.

Suitable places could be in your bedroom, on the decking or in the garden surrounded by your flowers. Indoors you could recreate the smells of the garden with scent and aromatherapy. Lavender is supposed to be soothing for a lot of people.

Some people like to play relaxing music, although it is better not to have lyrics or you may become distracted. Some people like listening to whale songs. I like to start my meditation sessions by relaxing my whole body. I begin by picturing little people inside my legs, arms and body pulling wires to move my muscles. I start in my feet and tell each person individually to take an hour’s tea break and I watch him leaving his post, in my big toe, for example, and walking up the inside of my leg to the canteen (wherever that is). Before long he is joined by other colleagues from other ‘departments’, until no part of my body is capable or movement, because there is no-one there to operate the muscles or wires.

Then I go back to the office in my head and I open up a fissure in the ground. This fissure keeps getting wider, very slowly getting wider and all the thoughts, problems and ideas that I have, play a game of jumping over the widening crack. Some are weak and fall down the crack soon. Other ideas are strong and determined and the crack has to get quite wide before they disappear too. Eventually, I am left alone, unless I decide to join in the game also and then the factory becomes completely deserted and there is a works shut down.

Pamper Yourself To Get Rid Of Stress

Stress is the number one killer in the West, although it seldom appears on death certificates. Stress causes other diseases like high blood pressure, anxiety, panic attacks and headaches to name but a few. Stress can also be debilitating, because when some people are stressed about getting something right, they begin to panic, and have less chance of doing that job well.

Stress, then, can lead to anxiety, panic attacks, heart disease and an early death. Funnily enough though, some people can use stress to increase their performance. Here I am thinking about actors and top business people, for instance. These are people who have learned how to channel stress into a helpful force.

But how do they do that? That is not easy to say, because what works for one person does not work for others. Means that some people use are exercise in a gymnasium and active sport such as golf and swimming.

Others use hot baths, showers, Jacuzzis, massage and saunas. Some people combine both methods. Say, a workout followed by a sauna or a massage. However, if you cannot stretch to that, a good tip is to get out of our workplace in your breaks. Fifteen minutes might not be long, but use it to walk around areas on site where you do not usually go.

When you get longer time off, say in your lunch hour, then you could have a shower or even a massage for thirty minutes. Or a swim, especially if your company provides the amenities.

If this is not feasible, then a massage or two a week is a good idea. Some of the best massage techniques are Shiatsu and Thai massage. Thai massage is more hard-hitting than Shiatsu and takes some getting used to, but you can always tell the masseur to tone it down a bit in the first few weeks until you can take the full Thai massage.

Another way of pampering yourself is the use of aromatherapy. You may think that aromatherapy is a new idea, but it ha been used in religion for thousands of years. In fact the modern church still uses aromas in order to create an atmosphere of tranquility and harmony.

There are many types of aromas that will induce different frames of mind. There are stimulants and tranquilizers to accommodate every occasion, but it does take experience or practice to find out what suits you, because people are different.

Another way of pampering yourself if to create a beautiful environment in which to pass your spare time. A garden is the first idea and a patio or deck is a way of enhancing your enjoyment of your garden. Holidays are another way of pampering yourself in order to reduce stress, but what most people do not realize is that it is not necessary to go far or for a long time.

Try going thirty miles to a jazz festival and staying over night. In fact, that is a requirement, you must stay over night and let some one else cook your breakfast and clean the towels after your shower. I promise you, you will not regret it.
